Scotland Food & Drink launched its Home Advantage publication at its ‘Gastronomy Economy’ Conference in Glasgow on 29 November 2018.
The AGM and Foodservice Conference outlined the UK opportunity for Scottish food and drink businesses which are immense, with a growing market of over 66 million people, where currency, language, location and logistics work in Scotland’s favour.
Scotland already has a strong and growing reputation in the market, and excellent opportunities await. It is already Scotland’s biggest market, with the plan for this strategy to take the country onto the next level.
Scotland Food & Drink’s ambition is to double Scotland’s turnover in Scotland and the rest of the UK from £8.6bn to £17bn by 2030.
As a result, the UK Market Development Strategy shows how Scotland Food & Drink will collaborate with public-sector and industry partners to define and build markets and develop programmes to support businesses to extend their capabilities and deliver new opportunities.
In short, the aim is to gain a competitive edge and grow and sustain profitable sales.
There is something in the strategy for every food and drink business in Scotland as well as outlining the support and opportunities on offer.
