Taste Inverclyde is delighted to reveal that KAI Smokehouse will be opening their doors to the public on Thursday 31 January 2019.
KAI Smokehouse is set to open their doors to the public tomorrow after spending the past few months renovating the former Bank of Scotland premises.
Owners Jude Boulton and his wife Hazel envisage KAI Smokehouse becoming an integral part of the local community – a place where people will visit to not only enjoy fantastic food but experience a relaxed, friendly and inspiring atmosphere.
KAI is looking to provide freshly prepared food in-house with an emphasis on both local and ethically sourced produce.
The varied dishes will be traditional slow cooked, allowing for the fantastic meat flavours to penetrate the food, resulting in incredibly tender and delicious meat dishes.
“It’s a fusion between Texas-style barbecue and a Scottish coastal venue. There will be smoked salmon, smoked cheese, scallops, fish and seafood.
“We will also bring in the Texas-style barbecue, such as brisket, ribs and pulled pork burgers.
”We’re excited to finally open KAI to our local community and look forward to meeting our customers.”
Jude and Hazel decided to open KAI Smokehouse following two back to back trips to New Zealand in the past few years.
The couple saw many uncanny similarities to Scotland and have gained inspiration in the creative way people embrace life, with many small independent businesses each offering something unique.
KAI is something the couple have spoken about for years and have always dreamed of opening a restaurant in the Inverclyde area.
The investment into the new venture should ensure employment for five or six full-time employees.
