Fresh New Look For Gourock Café and Restaurant
Taste Inverclyde is delighted to share the first images of the renovated Good Brew coffee shop and The River Restaurant, following a six-figure refurbishment.
The premises, formerly Café Flava, have been expanded to create two unique experiences after the acquisition of two neighbouring flats.
As a result, Flava has been rebranded as Good Brew, with an extended kitchen and seating area supporting a more contemporary feel, with large booths creating a welcoming and comfortable environment alongside the stripped back rustic décor, making this one of the most fashionable coffee shops in the west coast of Scotland.

Good Brew has been transformed to create a relaxed and authentic experience
The popular Gourock premises were last expanded in 2009 when another flat was transformed at the Kempock Street premises to create The Loft, which has now been rebranded as The River Restaurant.
The result provides a stunning environment to diners, with new stairs to the upper level added to enable easy access from street level, an expanded bar and seating area and relocation of the toilets. New picture windows have also been added to maximise the beautiful view of the Argyll hills.
Another beautiful addition to The River restaurant is the bespoke full wall artwork, which was created for the new restaurant by local artist Alex Galloway and includes multiple different references to Gourock.

The Renovation works took around nine months and compete in April 2019, with The River recently opening its doors. The new menu offers a variety of local and national produce, as well as favourite bar snacks and is open daily from 4pm.
Owner Joe Cannon said:
“It has been a long-term aim and vision of ours to expand the café and first floor, and we wanted to create fresh brands in Good Brew and The River to accompany the new direction of the businesses.
“The spaces are flexible to change with the different trade we experience throughout the day, from young families, friends having a coffee, families having dinner and people enjoying a night out.
“I am delighted with the result, and I think Inverclyde can be proud of having another fantastic place to visit and enjoy.”
Manager Matthew Cussons said:
“The aim has always been to raise the calibre of the eatery, including the surroundings, the menu, the drinks and the experience to differentiate Good Brew and The River and I think we have achieved this.
“We have a host of different innovations and offers coming up for locals and tourists, and we would encourage everyone to come and see the new spaces and give us their feedback.”
The new addition further supports Gourock’s ongoing regeneration, with the town continuing to be a hit with visitors through its range of independent shops, eateries and its popular outdoor pool.
